Wadada Productions is a music label located in the heart of New York that produces both local artists and artists from around the world. It’s roots started from Wadada Music, founded in 2007 by French born producer, musician and guitarist Aurélien Metsch Aka Natty Frenchy, The word Wadada is derived from the Amharic word Wedede that means Love. Wadada Productions mission is to spread love and unity through word, sound and arts.

At 87 years old Larry McDonald, a living legend of percussion and a cornerstone of the reggae and ska scene for over 7 decades, returns with an exceptional collaboration for a vocal version of "The shadow of your smile"! Having worked with icons like Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Toots & The Maytals, also more then 30 years touring and recording with Gill Scott Heron and actually with the Skatalites, he stands as one of the undisputed percussionist master of Jamaican music and others!

 

Joined by Natty Frenchy And Zem Audu and current and former members of the Skatalites, together they reinvents this timeless classic, where jazz meets Ska!

LALIBELA

"Lalibela", single track from the Skatalites' album "Walk with me" features Lloyd Knibb and Lester "Ska Sterling".
Lalibela was recorded at Don One Studio Brooklyn, NY and mixed at Wadada Studio by Aurélien “Natty Frenchy” Metsch (guitarist of the Skatalites) and Val Douglas (bassist of the Skatalites). This is the last recording made by the original drummer Lloyd Knibb. The Skatalites are considered to be one of the most influential groups coming from Jamaica.

“Brille le soleil", single track wrote by Aurelien’s oldest two sons Kimani and Naya was produced by Natty Frenchy at Wadada Studio New York. The single was written and produced when the boys were just 6 and 4 years old, featuring musicians such as, Kevin Batchelor trumpeter of the Skatelites and steel pulse, as well as" Val Douglas "who played bass on Bob Marley’s” So Much Trouble in the World "and" Jerry Johnson "which is the saxophone of Steel Pulse.
